About The Production At the boom boom room

Location: 1229 Washington Ave. St. Louis, MO 63103. The venue is located in a popular historic entertainment district next to restaurants, hotels, shopping, and other attractions such as The St. Louis Arch, The National Blues Museum, City Museum, the Peabody Opera House, and more.

Capacity: 140 seated at tables, 600 standing.

General: The Boom Boom Room is a venue for rent or for private events that produces its own in-house dance, cirque, and burlesque-inspired house shows that run 4-7 shows a week.  The Boom Boom Room has been open since 2015.  Each of our shows is its own private event for many people where they can all get their own personal party table. So for us, doing events is what we do.

Stage: Our stage is 14’ by 30’.  Stairs flank each end.  There are two 10’ by 9’ mirrors at an angle at the back of the stage.  It is 2.5’ tall and full of lights and sound that are controlled by the light sound positions.

The “Star Ship” Control Booth

Light, Sound, Video, Live Stream Booth:  The light and sound booth has been custom designed to control the entire experience for the audience members, or your event. The owner is a professional music composer, recording studio audio engineer for 30 years, musician, sound designer, lighting designer, and live-sound engineer, and is versed in live streams so we can confidently say, when it comes to technology, we have it set up. This includes

  • An advanced DMX light system uses Chamsy MagicQ and several light boards that also control not just the stage, but the house lights, each with the ability to be turned on, off, dimmed, or change colors independently, or designed within the scenes of the show. You can even raise and lower the chandeliers, the smoke, and more.

  • Control the sound system with the Allen And Heith SQ6 digital mixer.

  • Control the video on the screen 4 projection screens from this position using vMix, our professional live stream system.

Back Stage Technical Notes

Live Streaming

Something that truly sets us apart is our live-streaming setup. We have the ability to live stream your event, not with a cell phone, but with a full 8-camera system. We have a website where people can log into your event where you can broadcast ANYTHING you want, without the rules of YouTube or FaceBook for things such as content, or music. It can be private too. However, if you want to go to Facebook and Youtube, we can do that too. We can also record that stream, you can have it edited or show it to whomever whenever. Here is some of the equipment.

  • A full HD vMix switching system. This is used for graphics and to switch to cameras. This is not a free program this is what the big guys use. We can put up titles, photos, play videos, or show what is happening live.

  • 3 PTZ 4K cameras. PTZ stands for Point Tilt Zoom, we can Pan, Tilt, and Zoom them with a joystick.

  • 3 1k PTZ cameras.

  • 2 stations affect cameras. One over the center of the stage.

  • The ability to project these on 2 of the screens or all 4 screens.

  • you can see some samples of us with OUR show here. https://bombshelltv.com/categories/show-archives

Amazing Light System

Light Control

Most of the control of our lights happens in the control booth using the

  • Chamsys MagicQ PC and the control board. This system has 3 computer monitors, 1 is a touch screen, and 1 is for viewing videos that come out of the light system.

  • We also have a small light controller for the two haze machines and one for the from lights. There are also various buttons for things such ass, making the “Guizers” shoot, (they look like a CO2 cannon only a lot cheaper and safer) and a button for making the chandeliers go up and down.

  • Has 8 universes of DMX communication and two more for the front lights and smoke machines.

Spot Lights

We have two professional follow spotlights on the balcony, to be used a light needs a spotlight operator. You do not need a professional, just a 5-minute lesson, and anyone can do it. Or we can supply one or two.

Front Light truss

Starting with the front light, furthest from the stage is a truss that can be raised and lowered. It has

  • 5 ellipsoidal spots focused on the 5 zones of the stage. White only

  • 10 Washlights focused in 5 zones in pairs, white only

  • 3 Chauvet Hybrid moving beams.

  • 5 LED “white/soft white? wash lights.

The second front light bar

These are closer to the stage and have

  • 4 UV lights and

  • 6 LED RGBWAUV Chauvet color washes.

CENTER CEILING LIGHTS

6 LED RGBWAUV Chauvet color washes facing down

1 4-Bar facing the center down used for arial acts and dramatic effect.

 Back Lights Raised

  • 8 Chauvet Hybrid moving beam lights

  • 6 Chauvet Trios Space Between the Hybrids.

  • 1 ellipsoidal spot facing very back and center

  • 2 of the 4 Lasers point down and out to avoid the audience.

Back Wall Mirror Lights

Around the mirror, on the back wall, in about the center are two large 12-foot by 12-foot mirrors. These are the lights installed around them.

  • 48 marque lights that were hand-created by the owner and are individually addressable.

  • On top of the mirror and just below the mirrors are more pixel-strip lights.

  • On each side of the mirrors are 4 small moving spots.

Back Wall Floor Truss

  • 4 small moving spotlights

  • 2 of the 4 Lasers point up and out.

  • 4 blinders, note these are also in other locations.

Side Vertilce truss

There are two trusses that flank each side of the stage vertically mounted on the floor framing the stage. They each have

  • 6 Pixel Bars each, 4 that face in towards the stage as side lights, and 2 that act as blinders.

  • 2 Chauvet 4 -Bars

Raised above the sides of the stage are lighting polls for the side lights. Each one has

  • 1 Chauvet Trio wash beam effect lights

  • 2 LED RGBWAUV Chauvet color washes.

House/audience Lights

All the house lights have been designed to work with the light board. We also have clean-up lights, but these are not used until people leave. The possibilities become vast, some ideas are, the lights can simply be raised and lowered for dinner or turned off for a show, they can strobe and blink for dramatic effects like the winner of a prize, they can be the color of a wedding or a corporate color. We use them for a dinner setting, a show setting for our MC so people can eat and watch, they go off during acts to focus eyes on the stage, and slowly turn up when it is time to leave. We even program them for acts to match the color and mood on stage. The house lights in the theater include

  • 4 chandeliers that can be raised and lowered in front of the stage for dramatic effect.

  • 4 chandeliers in the raised VIP room.

  • 50 marquee-style lights that run along the balcony that can chase, and blink like all the lights.

  • 10 chandeliers on the bar.

  • The bar bottles, front bar, stage, back curtains, and bar shelves all have RGB LEDs installed to change color with the show. This also applies to the upstairs bar.

  • There are 5 columns, that have 2-4 LED RGBWAUV Chauvet color washes allowing an event to be color-themed with all of the RGB bar lights.

Smoke Fog Haze

For lights to truly be seen on needs haze. If not, they will just be normal lights. And that is OK, however for lasers, beams, and effects we have haze machines. We have

2 haze machines on each side of the stage. Haze is different that FOG, as it is like a cloud and haze is like a light atmosphere, like an early spring morning.

2 Guizers. The guizer effect machines sit in front of each verticle side truss. They shoot up like a volcano, a CO2 blaster. The haze dissipates quickly and makes a fun spraying noise.

Bombshell Bar Lights

The Bombshell Bar has its own set of lights, in the house, bar, merch area, and the mini stage. A lot less dramatic than the Venue Theater lights, but the same concept as they can all be controlled, they can be any color, can blink, chases, and create a bright or moody setting. The small stage is normally used as a photo area, and we have photo lights` that are hooked up for that also. It also has its own projection screens, TVs, Haze machine, and sound system that can play the same or separate programming.

CLEANING LIGHTS

For cleaning, we have some incredibly bright lights installed that make it easier to set up and clean. These make it so much more that can happen before and after events in a bright easy-to-work environment.

Sound System

Our sound system was designed to be completely versatile and to create many moods for different events. Examples are small quiet dinner music, a medium or loud DJ, a live music act, teaching, talking, or motivational, the sound of a big movie theater for a sales motivational presentation, etc. Some events need to be big and bassy, we have that, but we can also be small and quiet like a quaint restaurant.

Sound: Sound is set up with the high speakers set up in stereo pairs.  There are

  • 4 QSC 12.2 in front of the stage

  • 2 QSC 12.2 in front of the balcony

  • 3 EV top Cabs in front of the stage

  • 2 Yamaha recording studio quality monitors in the control booth

  • A variety of mics, stands, wireless, and wired.

  • Allen And Heith SQ6 digital mixer. It is set up to distribute sounds if needed to the theater, the Bombshell Bar, and the outside front door. It can record and is set up to distribute sound to the live stream

  • A 16-channel analog snake and a 10-channel digital snake coming from the stage.

  • Note at this time we do not have stage monitors.

Video Projection

Video projection happens from 4 laser units and 4 screens. The video projection can show videos from our vMix system and or from the lighting computer that also has the ability to play video. If you have a video that needs to be played we can play it off the vmix system. Here are the locations of the projection screens and the equipment.

  • 2 laser projectors pointing at 100” motorized screens that are over the mirrors. These can be raised and lowered easily from the sound booth. They can also choose if they will show the light computer, the vMix live stream, or whatever.

  • 1 laser Projector pointing at a 120” motorized screen to the left of the stage as you are looking at it. This and the next projector are on their own video view and can show separate things from the stage projectors.

  • 1 laser projector that is pointing at the wall to the right of the stage as you view it. It is unique in that it looks like a 120” gold frame. The inside has an expensive projection paint so it will show better.

The dressing room at the Boom Boom Room Saint Louis

Dressing Room:  (note used for our performers only except under very special occasions) Behind the stage is a well-appointed first-class dressing room with cabinet storage, individual mirrors with lights, chairs, makeup stations, a private bathroom, and a food station where the venue supplies food to keep the performers nourished along with water during the show.

Our Show

Many people who create events at the Boom Boom Room have no plan to see or use our in-house show, and we know this, however, some ONLY come so they can hire and see our show. If that is you, this section if for you.

We have an in-house show we have been performing for 13 years and helped us become the largest burlesque venue in the country. There are several ways to have the show at your event, here are some examples.

  • Plan your event, and simply hire the exact show we do, or make some modifications. Examples of modifications are, how long it is, which acts, and how adult the show is. We can make it clean and get rid of all burlesque and have fire and aerial acts as an example. We also have many themes we do in a year, such as, 1020s, New Orleans, French, Starwars, Horror/Halloween, Christmas, and Hollywood Glam.

  • Plan your event, and have us supply you with ambient talents such as fire performers and aerialists. Or hire an MC/host for the evening.

  • If you have a small function such as 30 people, you can simply ask to have a show set up for a Sunday through Thursday. We will just have a night like normal.

  • Buy our weekend show, and you can be the only one there.

As you can see there are lots of ways to do this and if you have any ideas, contact us.
